ECOLOSS new RescueSim partner
VSTEP has joined forces with ECOLOSS to partner for training emergency services in the Northern part of The Netherlands. Together they organized a virtual training workshop for a number of inhouse fire-departments, first aid and emergency services.
Invited by the association of company fire departments North, the event took place at the Adel site, Delfzijl. Multiple scenario's prepared, all real life situations at the site of the attending companys.
The first scenario was a textbook example of an incident which Ecoloss and the attending companies could face on a daily basis: rusted drums which where leaking hazardous materials. The attendees where offering a lot of possible solutions and together with the guidance that Ecoloss provided the situation was controlled rapidly.
The second scenario focused on following predefined protocols. A tanker truck collided with another car just outside of the company plant. The tank truck was leaking a liquid substance (which after some research turned out to be Ammonia). This led to some heavy discussions in wich the firemen decided to act and resolve the situation by laying down foam on the liquid puddle.
The last scenario contained a Rim-Seal fire, which often occurs during thunderstorms. The decision was made to wait for the arrival of the fire-departments so they could lay a blanket of foam on the burning liquid.
After the workshop the comments where very positive and the general consensus was that the company fire departments all found this to be a very realistic and cost-efficient way of training.
