Department of Saône et Loire emergency services using RescueSim for emergency response training and disaster management.
Following its successful entry into France, VSTEP announces that the Fire Department and emergency services of the Saône et Loire have selected RescueSim as a pilot project for their incident management training and preparation. RescueSim will provide the Saône et Loire emergency services with an effective tool to teach, enhance, assess and train the skills of emergency response individuals and teams within the SDIS71 department and will prepare the current and new emergency responders for any thinkable incident.
Saône-et-Loire is the seventh largest department of France and the most densely populated in the region of Bourgogne. The SDIS 71 employs over 2500 people and services a population of more than 570,000.
The RescueSim simulator was evaluated by over 50 emergency service group interns, and received a unanimously positive evaluation. Following this initial session, RescueSim will now be tested by the group leaders during an actual large scale incident simulation.
This RescueSim pilot project is the first step for the Fire Department and emergency services of the Saône et Loire towards fully integrating virtual training into their program as an innovative and cost effective way of preparation.

VSTEP and the SDIS 71 will be demonstrating RescueSim in the Grand Palais 2 (stand #215) at the 118e congrès national des sapeurs-pompiers from September 22-24, 2011 in Nantes.
