VITTOS Project nominated for Public Safety Award 2009
VSTEP's Virtual Incident Training for Tactical, Operational and Strategic Level (VITTOS) has been nominated by a jury of industry professionals and experts for the prestigious Dutch Public Safety Award 2009. This award is handed out to innovative and high quality projects that contribute to a better safety throughout The Netherlands. The winner will be announced during an official ceremony on December 3rd 2009.
The VITTOS project is an innovative program that will allow for simultaneous multidisciplinary virtual training of any thinkable incident in a highly realistic 3D environment. It will improve incident management, communication and response strategies between all levels of public and private emergency services. It is developed by VSTEP in cooperation with the safety region Rotterdam-Rijnmond and Artesis.
VITTOS has also won an innovation award of the Dutch Ministry of Economics.

At a formal ceremony on Friday 4th June, the Duke of Westminster officially opened the Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service’s new state-of–the–art training facility at its headquarters in Winsford, UK. The training facility incorporates VSTEP’s multi-user 3D simulation platform RescueSim.
