Lock Master Simulator

For the Dutch Ministry of Transportation & Water Management (Rijkswaterstaat), VSTEP has developed a lock master training simulator. Lock masters use this simulator to train and learn remote lock operations in a dynamically changing environment and learn to respond to different situations and incidents.

The lock master simulator includes a highly detailed and realistic representation of 4 existing locks in and around which real-life scenarios and incidents can be created: 

  • Grevelingensluis (Lock of Grevelingen)
  • Zandkreeksluis (Lock of Zandkreek)
  • Bergsediepsluis (Lock of Bergsediep)
  • Roompotsluis (Lock of Roompot)

The lock master simulators are used in the instruction center at the Topshuis Eastern Scheldt storm surge barrier building.
