ECOLOSS

On 14 october VSTEP has joined forces with their partner for the Northern part of The Netherlands,  ECOLOSS. Together they organized a virtual training workshop for a number of inhouse fire-departments, first aid and emergency services.

On an invite of the association of company fire departments North, the event took place at the Adel site, Delfzijl. Multiple scenario's prepared, all real life situations at the site of the attending companys.

The first scenario, started off with an example case wich Ecoloss and the attending companies could face on a daily basis, rusted drums which where leaking hazardous materials. The attendees where offering a lot of possible solutions and together with the guidance that Ecoloss provided the situation was controlled quiet rapidly.

The second scenario, was based on following predefined protocols. A tanktruck collided with another car just outside the companies property. The tank truck was leaking a liquid substance (which after some research turned out to be Ammonia). This led to some heavy discussions in wich the firemen decided to act and resolve the situation by laying down foam on the liquid puddle.

The last scenario was about a Rim-Seal fire, which often occurs during thunderstorms. The decision was easily made to wait for the fire-departments to arrive to lay a blanket of foam on the burning liquid.

After the workshop the comments where very positive. The company's fire departments found this to be a very realistic and cost-efficient way of training.
